The theme for our first ever TEDxUniversityofNevada is “creating community conversations.” The reason we selected this theme is that we hope to create interesting conversations among the participants at our event, and we hope those participants represent a broad spectrum of people from our community.
If you are proposing to speak at our event, we do not expect your talk to be about community per se. We want your idea that’s worth spreading, and that idea does not have to be about community – but it must be your best idea.
When you share that idea with our participants on the day of the event, then the “community” of people present will engage you and each other in conversation. Because all our talks will be recorded and posted to the TEDx video site, your talk will hopefully generate more conversation within our community and other communities across the globe for which your idea matters.
This is what we mean by creating community conversations.

Imagine the positive outcomes in school attendance, reduction in teen pregnancy, improvement in graduation rates, and focused kids who want to learn, work, and manage their own lives out of poverty!
I’m the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada and have amazingly emotional stories to tell…

Ann, we’d love to consider a speaker proposal from you. There is a separate page at this site for speaker proposals. At the bottom of that page is a link to provide information that will allow us to formally consider your idea. Let me know if you have any questions.
